Terrior - Sonoma County
A film focusing on terroir, seasonal change, and land stewardship in Sonoma County, CA
The Vision
My name is Dan Quiñones, and I am a professional photographer and film producer based in Windsor, CA. I have been shooting for 17 years—11 of them professionally—specifically within the wine industry. Over the years, I’ve felt a growing pull to document Sonoma County in a way that truly centers the land itself. This has inspired me to personally invite you to apply to be a partner with me in producing a documentary film that focuses on terroir, seasonal change, and land stewardship throughout Sonoma County. Featuring the most unique and consciously farmed vineyards in the county.
The goal of this film is to create a living, publicly accessible digital story (under 30 minutes in length) that showcases the topographical magic of Sonoma County across the growing season—presenting its terroir, climate, light, and layered landscapes. The story will be captured from epic vantage points through seasonal change using high-resolution cinematic cameras. The film will highlight the uniqueness of Sonoma County from a grape-growing and agricultural standpoint, while weaving in a soft, human narrative through the voices of vineyard owners, growers, and brands who strive to work with the land—not against it.
My commitment is to deliver quarterly content to participating partners that they can use for marketing immediately, along with a shareable, festival-worthy short film by year’s end. The year-end short film will be publicly viewable, timeless, and designed to endure beyond trends. The working title of the film is Terroir — Sonoma County. Its purpose is to elevate awareness of Sonoma County’s sense of place, inspiring a deeper appreciation for the land and inviting the right kind of visitors—those who want to connect meaningfully with where wine is grown, the regenerative practices ethical farmers use, and why it matters.
You can expect this project to exceed the quality of anything else in my current portfolio across all aspects of filmmaking and photography. If we haven’t worked together before, I invite you to learn more about my approach, explore my portfolio, and read client testimonials using the links below.
My Promise
Each vineyard/brand/site investing in this film will be documented four or more times across the year throughout the seasons, featuring the main stages of bud break, veraison, harvest, and post-harvest. We will capture it with:
Drone stills and drone cinematic video
Ground-level cinematic video and still photography
I’ll also conduct interviews with vineyard owners, growers, and the people who work the land, prompting talking points focusing on site-specific farming practices, the terrior, growing conditions, and stories about lived experience in the vineyards. And lastly, there will be a shoot day before harvest solely dedicated to capturing cinematic beauty shots of the bottles and wine-in-glass to feature the unique wines created from these exact sites.
I will be using high resolution, cinematic cameras and an FAA certified and insured drone + pilot with approved flight plans necessary to fly in and around the valley.
Quarterly Deliverables
Each quarter after each seasonal visit, partners will receive:
An unlimited amount of retouched, high-resolution images of their site as the seasons change
A short edited video featuring B-roll and interview moments from the most recent shoots
The partners can use this content for marketing purposes however they see sit within the terms listed below immediately once they receive them each quarter.
Year-End Deliverables
At the conclusion of the project, in December I will deliver:
A public, shareable link to the completed film: Terroir — Sonoma County
A high-resolution digital photo album, with the option to order fine art prints
A coordinated release day of the film Nation Wide
And the partners will have a full, working marketing content archive to use and pull from
The partners featured in this film will be listed and credited, and this film will be accessible for free with world-wide viewership for years to come, adding to your legacy within Sonoma County, CA
