A complete checklist to help you stay prepared for any shoot.

1. Camera Essentials

  • DSLR or Mirrorless Camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fuji — any model you’re comfortable with)

  • Primary Lens (your kit lens is great: 18–55mm or similar)

  • Optional Lenses:

    • 50mm f/1.8 (great for portraits)

    • 24–70mm (versatile for most situations)

    • 70–200mm (events, sports, compression shots)

2. Storage & Power

  • SD / CFexpress / XQD Cards (bring extras + format before the shoot)

  • Card Case for organization

  • Fully Charged Camera Batteries (2–3 recommended)

  • Battery Charger

3. Support & Stability

  • Tripod (sturdy + easy to adjust)

  • Monopod (optional)

  • Small Tabletop Tripod (for travel or product shots)

4. Lighting Gear

Natural Light Tools:

  • Reflector (5-in-1 recommended)

  • Diffuser

Artificial Lighting Options:

  • On-Camera Speedlight / Flash

  • Off-Camera Flash + Triggers

  • LED Light Panel (bi-color or daylight)

  • Softbox or Umbrella Modifier

  • Light Stand(s)

5. Audio Gear (Optional but Useful)

  • On-Camera Mic (Rode, Deity, etc.)

  • Wireless Lav Mic

  • Audio Recorder

(Great for hybrid shooters doing photo + video.)

6. Camera Carry & Protection

  • Camera Bag / Backpack

  • Camera Strap (comfortable, secure)

  • Lens Cloth + Microfiber Wipes

  • Lens Blower

  • Rain Cover / Weather Protection

7. Workflow & Accessories

  • Laptop / Tablet (for tethering or review)

  • External Hard Drive / SSD

  • Card Reader

  • Notebook or Notes App (shot list, ideas, reminders)

  • Gaffer Tape (the secret MVP of any shoot)

  • Multi-Tool or Small Screwdriver
